Happy Saturday! Today has been a really great day! Had a nice relaxing morning walk as well as sat in a gazebo and just reflected on life and enjoyed the weather had, a great long convo with my BESTIE Shakema (love her), talked to my mom and papa and just enjoyed the weather. My dog, Pooch, was playing around in the grass and enjoying the weather as well!! I took care of a few errands and visited a friend and cleaned my house so it was a very productive day. Hope your day was good!
TODAY'S MENU included a bowl of oatmeal with honey, cinnamon, slivered almonds and fresh blueberries! I had a shake for lunch. Some of my snacks included tuna on my multi-seed crackers, fruit and hummus and veggies. Now my dinner was really good. I told you all how I have been craving pizza so I found a way to satisfy that craving in a healthy way! I got creative in the kitchen today....which I love to do!!!! Cooking is my thing lol! Anway...yesterday with my sorority sisters they ended up ordering pizza and wings and that was the biggest temptation I have experienced these last two weeks! The pizza was right in front of me and it smelled so good! Imagine dying of thirst and you see a water bottle a few steps away lol. Long story short...I did not eat any of it and I didn't even take a tiny bite which I wanted and I know is okay to do a little bite or in moderation but I really wanted to stick to my plan and be strict on myself. I feel it is too early for me to try that just for the fact I may overindulge or want to go back to that type of food. I am getting stronger and have done well these last couple of weeks so I know it will get easier.
I had a great shopping experience at Market Street today!!! They had their "Healthy You" expo so they had sales on many healthy and organic items as well as samples all around the store. I was able to try a few new things so that was great! I even organized my fridge to look neater and stock it with healthy yummy stuff! Today's workout was grueling because it was PURE CARDIO PLUS CARDIO ABS!
Here are a few pictures to show you about my day and grocery finds!!!

TO DRINK OR NOT TO DRINK
I have a social life and YES....I like to have a good drink on the weekend or with friends for a gathering. I have learned that I may not have as many of those yummy beverages and will try to be more health conscious when I choose a drink. I don't want all my hard work to go out the door so when I thought about it I figured maybe someone else have the same problem so I decided to research for us to get some answers. I did notice both articles talk about avoiding mixers and stick with club soda or fruit juices to put your alcohol in. Here are some of the calculated calories that are in a few top drinks from Web MD......
- Pina Colada (6 oz): 378 calories
- Mojito (8 oz): 214 calories
- Cosmopolitan (4 oz): 200 calories
- Chocolate martini: (2 oz each vodka, chocolate liqueur, cream, 1/2 oz creme de cacao, chocolate syrup): 438
- Margarita (8 oz): 280
- Skinnygirl margarita (4 oz): 100
- Green apple martini (1 oz each vodka, sour apple, apple juice): 148
- Martini (2.5 oz): 160
I like a great glass of wine and saw that they are usually about 120 calories for a standard glass so that made me happy although I know a lot of sugar is in it and what not but I won't overindulge. If you can resist a good drink than that is great and probably good for us that are working to be healthier. So hope this helps next time you go to a happy hour or out with friends!!!! I know it has helped me get some ideas on better decisions when picking an alcoholic beverage.

Its the DStut coming back at you with a Paleo perspective of eating :)
ReplyDeleteFirst off ...great choices in the fruits and veggies area! Remember that there is a caloric association with everything...the sweeter the fruit..the more calories!
Smooth move on the muffin pizza Idea. Have you ever tried to make a "Meatza"? Long story short its a pizza where the crust is meat instead of bread! Hi protein/lo fat and carbs. Check my CrossFit FB album for pictures of it!
I feel you on the drinking thing. I've found that I stay away from the fruity/sweet stuff as much as possible...but in my mind I think "alcohol isn't good anyways" ... Some of my favorites to enjoy at the bar are
Vodka Tonic
Gin and Tonic
Vodka + Club Soda w/lime
Tequila + Club Soda w/lime
all else fails...Get a double shot and babysit it all night!
Keep chopping away!
