Hey hey hey yall!
Today has been a challenging day! I will keep it real with you all I did NOT want to work out today. I have been SO tired but I told myself that would no longer be an excuse for me unless I am just very ill! Anyway...I am so glad that it is Friday tomorrow and I bet you feel the same! I used to love going to happy hour, snacking on delicious yet fattening appetizers and cocktails and BEER! Yes I said, BEER! lol! I loved having wine while I cooked dinner as well as to relax occasionally when I got home from work and plopped my self in front of the TV to watch my recorded shows on my dvr haha. I know that I can have those things in moderation but I just want to be strict on myself this month to keep me from falling back into the same old routine.
Anyway!
WILLPOWER is a must! I almost broke today! If you have been reading or say my confession on "Temptation Tuesday" you all know I have been craving PIZZA! Well today at work we had math night and I worked the door for those paying to go in the gym to eat....and guess what they were eating....PIZZA!!!! It smelled heavenly! It smelled like sunshine and rainbows and all that lol. You know what I mean. Teachers could eat free before the event, I didn't even go in there. Then my coworker gets some pizza and eats it right next to me....OH I WAS SO JEALOUS lol! She has a great physique so she could go ahead and indulge in the yumminess (YES i made a word) of the melted cheese and meaty pepperoni (don't you dare even pick up the phone to call pizza hut lol). She offered me a slice a couple of times and I refused. My inner fat girl wanted to say , "YES, please", but I didn't. I thought about the Insanity instructor and the hell he was going to put me through. I am not working out for nothing so I am glad that I had will power. I also knew I was going to have to answer to all of you!!! So thanks for being the support I need through this process.
NEXT......................Support!!!! Support is important. I posted on fb how tired I was and that I didn't want to get up and work out. I put my phone down and I heard my message go off! Guess who......my bff.....she said, "Get up, you can do it". I really needed that. It gave me a happy feeling and it also pushed me to go forward with my work out. I did have it on, but her texting made me really push even harder.
So for all of you in the same boat! PUSH!!!! You can do it. I even had two friends on different occasions who didn't want to tempt me and have me eat out with them...I do appreciate that..but I am going to continue to get through so I won't be too tempted when I go out with my friends to just eat up the place Lol.
TODAY's MENU included two shakes, salmon pin wheels, almond butter and a banana, Blue Diamond Almond Crisp crackers with fresh salsa and my delicious lunch as the Spicy Open Faced Tuna Melt (recipe in my blog on Day 6). It was really good and not to heavy. I had a V8 with it instead of a salad since I need to go to the store and get some more romaine lettuce or fresh spinach. I am glad I got through today's workout. Ready to pull through Friday and Saturday's workout so I can get my rest day on Sunday! Do you have any great ab workouts? I am thinking about incorporating that in the morning just for an extra dose of fitness in my life haha.
DON'T LET THE WEEKENDS RUIN YOUR GOOD WEEK OF HEALTHY MEALS AND EXERCISE
I know how the weekends are usually filled with social gatherings, parties, celebrations and happy hours and we still want to hang with our friends.....right! Well if you are working towards a healthier you and you still want to put your feet up on the weekend like me I decided to find us some help. This link at About.com entitled "Weekend Diet Traps"....
http://nutrition.about.com/od/changeyourdiet/f/weekends.htmhttp://nutrition.about.com/od/changeyourdiet/f/weekends.htm
...offers a few ideas on how to get past the weekend, still have fun, but not put all the hard work you did during the week to waste. I like how the mentioned to eat breakfast still, eat before you head to the mall so you aren't likely to stop in the food court and to still do some light exercise if it is an off day such as taking a walk or doing something active yet fun.
The other link is from WEB MD and is called the Weekend Diet....
http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/the-weekend-diet
.....this article gives you information about doing things in moderation with the 80/20 rule. Do right 80 percent of the time and you have about 20 percent to have a little wiggle room but not to go over board. It also gives the option of being a "weekend warrior". This means that you should take your time on the weekend to work out more if you slacked some during the week and use some of this time for planning meals and grocery shopping which I actually started doing last weekend.
Need some fun, healthy yet yummy meals to make. Check these links out.

Brunch ideas (pancakes and frittata look great and a yummy bloody mary): http://www.fitsugar.com/Healthy-Weekend-Brunch-Recipes-12930504?slide=0
I forgot to take a picture of my tuna melt but I will definitely get it next time! That could be a great lunch for you to make this weekend, try it out!
Until next time folks, take a walk and get a nap in! Enjoy the weekend!
Awesome job. I splurge a little on weekends eg. a glass of wine, with a nice meal, but make sure there's plenty of low cal and healthy options in the meal such as a huge yummy salad. Then I enjoy other things in moderation. I'll check out those links though, because I'm trying to eat cleaner and the more ideas we have, the better.
ReplyDeleteHello! Thanks visiting my page! I do like to have a glass of wine atleast once on the weekend as well and a "treat"meal that is not just way out of line. I agree that it should still have some valuable nutrition for us. I hope the links help you find other ideas. The brunch ideas have a few items i would like to try! Glad that you are taking the steps towards a healthy life too. Appreciate your thoughts. If you try a great recipe let me know so I can let the readers know. Thanks Lisa
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know, the tomato tart recipe I posted is definitely not low fat, as you probably realize, but I think it has a good mix of nutritional elements. It's great to find others who are making life changes. Most of the recipes I'll use I'll post on my blog, and I'm always checking out new sites.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Lisa
Oh thanks for letting me know! I did look at recipe yet so didn't know for sure. And yes it is great to find others with shared goals! I will be checking your blog for recipes.
