Day 7: Hey Good Lookin'...What ya got COOKIN'?

Hey hey hey yall!!!!
TRY greek yogurt!  Great way to add protein to your morning meal or snack!

Time to start preparing for a new week.....whether you have to go to work, go to school, take care of things at home or whatever it is you do its time to prepare!  Start thinking about when and what you are going to work out at the gym or mentally prepare for your favorite workout.  One thing I am doing today is planning a few ideas of what I want to cook this week.  Yesterday, I posted my grocery list so I can go grocery shop for the week.  I do sometimes buy something extra during the week if I feel like I want something different or I find a new recipe that I really want to try but for the most part it is best to plan so you won't end up going to a fast food place or getting off track.

I thought as I planned my meals I would give you all a few links and suggestions as well.  It is so important to change it up so you enjoy your meals and don't get tired of the same thing.  I chose not to post several of these recipes so you could just choose what your taste buds would rather enjoy!  Here are a few links that I have attached that you can view and check out for new meal ideas and recipes:

MEATLESS MONDAYS: Great website with several recipes on meals you can make without MEAT.  We don't have to have meat everyday folks!  You can save money and help your body! It offers recipes such as Easy Minestrone, veggie quesadillas and what not.  So those who are trying to cut out meats once in awhile...take a look here.  This site also gives NUTRITION INFO for the meal so that is very helpful if you are counting calories and other nutrition facts.

6 MEATLESS MEALS: This site gives you 6 different things that you can make without meat.

I am going to challenge myself to try to go a day or two once a week without meat.  I will be sure to let you know how that goes and what I eat those days.

Eat Clean Diet.com : Wonderful website!  Has so much information for those looking to be healthy.  If you click the recipes link on this page there are several recipes that are clean to choose from.  I may try the Tosca's Keep It Tight Tilapia and Crispy Chicken Bites soon.  The Spaghetti with Pesto looks great too and very simple.  When you are in the recipe section there is a little arrow that you can click and you have the option to look for recipes for breakfast, main dishes, sides and treats.

Keep Your Diet Real website : This site has a wide array of recipes for those on the go, on a budget, and don't require too much time.  Other sites have recipes similar but may include a few more ingredients or take longer to prepare.  This has all types of things from smoothies, poultry, breakfast meals and so much more so check it out today!

Breakfast Ideas: That link has some great, simple breakfast ideas that are healthy.  I will be trying some of those soon as well.

I decided to create a link that will take you directly to recipes that I like.  The healthy chicken fingers and roasted garlic broccoli are fantastic and I just had to share them with you! Let me know what you think!

All the websites I just mentioned are on the right of this page under my website links.

FEATURE RECIPE

Vegetable Quesadilla's : These are good but if you don't like whole wheat tortilla's it may not be for you.

Ingredients:
Bag of Whole Wheat Tortillas
Bag of Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese
1 Red Bell Peppers,sliced
1 Green Bell Peppers,sliced
1 Red or White Onion,sliced
1 can refried beans fat-free (or make your own)
Olive Oil
Sea salt
Pepper

Directions: Put 1T of olive oil in pan, Saute sliced red and green peppers along with your onion and it is optional to sprinkle a dash of salt and pepper to add a little more flavor.  Set aside.  Warm up the refried beans and put to the side as well.  Get a pan warm on medium and put 1 t of olive oil, let it get hot.  Place one tortilla on the pan, spread about a 2 T of beans on the tortilla, add the sauteed veggies on top of the beans.  Add 1/3 cup or less of the cheese and heat until tortilla begins to get browned.  Fold in half, let cheese melt and cut into fours.  I usually eat just one and you could have some fresh salsa or avocados on top of it. Enjoy!

QUICK TIPS
Try making spaghetti squash instead of using real spaghetti noodles.  It seems like spaghetti but it is actually squash.  If you have a recipe please add a link to the comment section or give us the website.  I haven't made any yet but would like to try it.

Today is my rest day for the week so I am so happy about not having to workout to Insanity today!  I will be taking a walk with my lil dog today to keep in some light activity but nothing strenuous because your body does need time to repair itself so you can go back at the workout routine again.  Oh yea, almost forgot.  Yesterday I didn't post about lunch, snacks or dinner.  So I had a shake for lunch, salmon pin wheels, apple and boiled egg for snacks and ........................................for dinner I had somewhat of a CHEAT meal but I looked on my fitness pal for the calories of the meal and it was 273 calories for 7 ounces.  I bet you wonder what I wanted to indulge in huh.....well.....it was shrimp fried rice from P.F. Chang.  It was so good.  Shrimp is good for you and they did use canola oil which is better than regular vegetable oil.  I am back on track today but had only a cheat meal for my sanity lol.  And it wasn't like I splurged on a pizza or juicy, greasy burger or anything lol! We are REAL people wanting REAL results...so yes got to have something once in awhile but if you cheat often...your results will probably take a little longer if your working towards a weight loss.  SO THANKS EVERYONE FOR MAKING ME ACCOUNTABLE.

EMAIL me at wymichelleblogs@gmail.com with questions, ideas, emails and even recipes that you would like to share and PHOTOS of your delicious food!  I would love to share them with everyone who follows and reads this blog!  Lets help each other succeed!

  1. If you're going to cheat...it's always better to cheat at home. That way you can from beginning to end control how you cheat by ingredient control.

You should try "cauliflower rice" which basically i using chopped up cauliflower that takes the place of rice :)

  2. Hey! I like that idea about cauliflower rice. How do you cook it after chopping it up?

And I may go ahead and try my "treat" meal (if I feel I need one) at home this week instead of out. Thanks!!!

  3. Wynitttaaaa!!!! I just love your blog! I love all the helpful websites and recipes you've been providing your audience. And also, this may sound weird, but being a visual person I like seeing what groceries you've bought and meals you've made. So thanks for all the pictures :)... Okay, so on another note. I have a website I think you would really enjoy! It's all about the Paleo diet (getting back to our caveman roots before they had processed food). Check out the recipe section: www.paleoplan.com... There is a Paleo spaghetti recipe that uses spaghetti squash on there. Also!!! I think you would love the Almond Flour pancakes. I make these on saturday mornings when I'm really craving a "country-style" breakfast. These pancakes definitely hit the spot and I don't feel guilty after eating them. And instead of using corn syrup, sugary, unnatural, unhealthy syrup, I put either almond butter or apple butter on top of the pancakes. These almond flour pancakes, along with some eggs, turkey bacon, and sweet potato hash browns (recipe is also on the website), makes me happy and feel good about myself. There are a bunch of healthy ideas for breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinners. I definitely live by this website. So check it out and hope you enjoy.

  4. Thanks so much! I love writing it! I am always taking notes on things I need to post and what not and always taking pictures of food and groceries!

I have heard of the spaghetti squash so I will for sure try that this weekend or next week. I also love the idea of those healthy pancakes because I love a good home cooked breakfast on Saturdays too. I will add that website to my links. Sounds like I will have to check it out tonight for sure!

Thanks for such a great post that can help others get ideas as well!
