Day 2: Snack Attack!!!

Hey YALL!

If you are reading this....I SURVIVED!!!!!!!!

I woke up highly motivated!  I jogged with my dog, did some squats, lunges, Heisman's and what not while my lil dog, Pooch, took care of his business and watched me like I was a crazy person.  After that, I made a couple boiled eggs to take to work for a SNACK for extra protein, cooked a tilapia for lunch since I forgot to make it last night, and made my shake for breakfast! Soooooooooo with that said I felt very accomplished already and that was all done between 6am and 7am.

Today I chose Minute Brown and Wild Rice and broccoli to go with my tilapia for lunch.  Had an egg for a snack before lunch and later in the day snacked on a small granny smith apple, my other boiled egg, cranberry almond fruit and nut bar and another apple.  Dinner I had a shake and put some frozen cherries and strawberries in it.

NOW TO THE WORKOUT!!!!!! It was grueling.  Today was Plyometric Cardio Circuit and it was about 45 minutes or so ( I tried not to watch the clock).  After the first 10 minutes, I wanted to quit but I thought about the new swimsuit I want to get for the summer and I kept pushing.  I thought about being healthy and not sick when I'm middle aged due to not taking care of myself early enough so I pushed on and completed the workout.  I may not be walking tomorrow and barely walking now but I hear it gets easier with time so I don't want to give up!  Lord knows I really wanted to just sit down, watch TV, drink some wine and chill out from my long day of work and then private art lessons.....but NO! I must stay consistent and that's the plan.

ME LOOKING ROUGH AFTER INSANITY TONIGHT!!! eek!

I actually almost pulled into Sonic not thinking about it and quickly kept driving straight! LOL!!!!  A slush and cheddar peppers did sound good though! But so far so good so I'm sticking to the right path.  Now to my  questions.....

SNACKING: My question for the day?

As I and others begin this journey sometimes its hard to know what is right and wrong when it comes to snacks or how much.  If you have any great snacks that are healthy or suggestions please comment!

I also wondered if I am supposed to have only my 1200 calories a day although I burn a lot of the calories I take in during my workout..... does that mean I need to eat more or what????? HELP!!!!!

Anyway if you are in the same boat as me and wondering about a few snacks here are some of my favorites.

SNACKS I LIKE:
Almonds
Almond Butter with Bananas
Greek Yogurt with Fruit (My big sis likes this too and she really knows what she is talking about)
String Cheese (Not as great as the real thing but pretty good and does its job)
Fresh Carrots (Peeled and cut, I don't like the small pre-packaged ones)
Boiled Eggs ( A little sea salt and pepper...mmm mmm good).  The white part is the healthier part though
Fruit and Nut Bars
Broccoli (........drum roll please............with no dressing!!!!)

When I don't do water Green Tea alone or with honey is great for you and provides several antioxidants.

My big sis suggested plain nonfat greek yogurt mixed with fresh berries (she likes Chobani brand, funny I actually picked some up already ) and low fat cottage cheese with fresh fruit or tomato and pepper.  I may have to try this because I am scared of white curdled food so may need to try it though.

Oxygen magazine has some great snack ideas too.  One is 6 almond, 1 oz low-fat string cheese and a medium pear.  This is said to be pairing a slow digesting carb with protein which can help you last to the next meal for two to three hours.  I may have to try this one.

Hope this helps anyone needing ideas and if you have some please share!!!!! :)

RESOURCES:

I love my fitness pal application for my phone but it is also on the computer.  You can put in your exercise and food for the day in a simple way and it calculates everything for you.

I also love my app on the Iphone called Fooducate and you can scan barcodes of food and it will give it a rating and let you know how healthy it is.  That is how I found about the scam on the "Natural" popcorn I shared with you all on yesterday's post.  Here are a few pics!  Use them if you want, they are great! Until next time folks.....

THE PIC ON TOP IS FOODUCATE AND THE ONE ON THE BOTTOM IS MY FITNESS PAL

Look forward to any helpful comments! Thanks!

  1. It's the DStut. You should try eating about 5-7x/day. Cut the rice out and eat more veggies. Also healthy fats such as coconut flakes/avocados are great! Stay creative in the kitchen!
